Thanks Nanna & Grandad!!

We are truly blessed by a wonderful family. This past week, that blessing took the form of helping us on several projects around the house. Both of Peter's parents came down to Austin for the weekend. Then when Nanna had to drive home on Sunday, she left Grandad behind to continue helping throughout the week. By the time Grandad flew home on Thursday night, much had been accomplished!!

One of our first projects was to clean the upholstery on our couches. Those of you who have been to our house know that we have big couches, so this was no small task. While we were at it, we decided to try to wash the pillows as well. That didn't go so well, so we ended up restuffing them. Now our couches are not only cleaner, but more comfy as well.

We also tackled the laundry room. This required cleaning behind the washer and dryer (yuck!), painting, and installing shelves. I went from having one shelf to five shelves in there!! It's a beautiful thing. This house has very limited storage, so the new shelves have really helped in the storage department as well as making the laundry room more functional.

Another big project was the garage. It got cleaned out and reorganized. Need I say more? We were actually able to fit both cars in there, though we decided getting kids into the truck with Peter's car in there would be tricky, so we left the Integra in the driveway where it's been for a few years. Still, the garage is nicely organized and actually functional. Yeah.

Think we're done? Nope. Peter and his dad also took on the project of redoing the floors in the upstairs guest bathroom. The linoleum in there should have been replaced eight years ago, so they picked out new flooring, pulled up the toilet and thoroughly cleaned it, cut and laid the new floor, and got the toilet functioning again. Woo Hoo!

In addition to those big projects, several smaller tasks got done, too. The mantle is painted and now matches our living room, our front door no longer has a half inch gap between it and the treshhold, and half of my books have been removed from our overly cramped office and sold for a bigger-than-expected profit.

To top it all off, both Nanna and Grandad are still willing to come back and do some more! Amazing!!!

We had some fun while they were here, too. Marillah came over one afternoon to hang out, and we actually let Grandad sit down for a few minutes each day.

So, thanks a ton, Nanna and Grandad. WE LOVE YOU!!!

You're lucky-- extra help is always a godsend. My family does a "project co-op" where once every month we all meet at someone's house and get a major project (painting, landscaping) done. It's nice because every four months or so, you have a ton of extra hands to get a big project done at your house.

Congrats to Jaden on his first steps!!

That is great! Ya'll really did get a lot accomplished. I know you're thrilled. Nothing like getting to enjoy the upgrades as well as having the house "sell" ready. Can't wait to see all the new additions. We're going to have to sign them up to come to our house next. They are the king and queen of projects.

Oh boy, he's almost ready to chase. Marillah will have so much fun running with Jaden!!
