The King Clan Comes to Visit

Before, during, and after Riley's birth, we were blessed to be surrounded by loved ones. Mom and Dad King came to Austin the weekend before Riley's birth so they could be here to help with Jaden and other household tasks as well as celebrate the arrival of their third grandchild. Peter and I feel so blessed to have such wonderful and supportive parents who are willing to take time out of their lives to be a big part of ours.

I admit to being a bit worried about leaving Jaden behind when Peter and I went to the hospital, but those worries were needless. Nanna and Grandad did a great job taking care of and bonding with Jaden, toting him back and forth to the hospital both before and after the birth so I could see him, too.

Mom and Laura were also both present for the actual birth. Mom and Dad brought Jaden to the hospital the evening I was in labor then took him home and put him to bed. Mom then left a sleeping Jaden home with Grandad and returned to the hospital for the 2:25 am birth. Laura had visited us in the evening as well and then kinda ended up staying. We were glad to have the extra support during the long and sometimes stressful labor!

The day we got home from the hospital, we had a houseful! Not only were Mom and Dad here, but Matt, Amie, and Marillah; Paul and Laura, and Kristen all came to town and joined us for a big family dinner. Everyone got a chance to hold the baby!

Riley is a lucky little boy to already be loved by so many. We will cherish these memories of "the early days" even as we add to them in the years to come. Thanks Kings!!!!!
